Surah Al-Kahf (The Cave) – Verses & Summary
Arabic (Ayat 1-10):
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Pilgrimage Alhaj الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ الْكِتَابَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ عِوَجًا 1 قَيِّمًا لِيُنْذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِنْ لَدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا 2 مَاكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا 3 وَيُنْذِرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَدًا 4 مَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَا لِآبَائِهِمْ ۚ كَبُرَتْ كَلِمَةً تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ ٍ إِنْ يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًا 5…
English Translation (1-10):
1 In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. [A messenger] from Him, [who follows] a straight path, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good rewardIn which they will remain forever…
Four Big Stories in Surah Al-Kahf:
The Men of the Cave (Verses 9–26):
A band of virtuous youths who escaped persecution and slept in a cave for centuries, guarded by Allah.
The two owners of the garden (32-44):
A parable of a rich man who rejected Allah’s favors and was destroyed to be a lesson for the arrogant.
Moses and Khidr (Verses 60–82):
Prophet Moses is taught by the wise servant of God (Khidr) God’s wisdom behind examples of apparent injustice.
Dhul-Qarnayn (Verses 83–101):
A just king constructing a barrier to safeguard human beings from Gog and Magog, an allegory of divine justice.
